Frequently Asked Questions

What age can my child start lessons?
We recommend starting no earlier than age 6. Ideally, your child should be somewhat independent—able to change their shoes, tie their hair up, and follow instructions on their own. Most of our students start between ages 7 and 9. Prior dance experience is always welcome, even if it’s from other styles such as ballet or jazz.

Do we have to pay per term?
No. You’re welcome to pay casually per class while you decide if our lessons are the right fit. Once you’re ready to commit, we offer flexible options for a 3-month or 12-month membership.

Can I stay and watch my child in their class?
Yes! You’re welcome to stay and watch from our Parents and Guests table. Please keep phones on silent and conversation to a minimum so the class can focus. If you bring younger siblings, ensure they are quietly entertained and use headphones if they are watching or playing on a device. At no time should a parent interrupt the class or communicate with their child during the lesson. If your presence becomes a distraction to the class, we may ask you to step outside until the lesson is finished.

Do I need shoes and a uniform for the first class?
No, your child can dance in comfortable shoes or socks during their trial period. We do ask that we can see your child’s knees, so a skirt above the knee or leggings is ideal. Please avoid baggy tracksuits or long skirts, as they make it harder for teachers to check technique and movement.

Are there end-of-year concerts?
No, we don’t operate like a traditional ballet studio. Instead, we hold medal exam presentations three times a year, as well as one or two kids’ competitions that we attend as a studio. Parents, family, and friends are always welcome to come along and support the dancers at these events.

Do you offer private one-on-one lessons for children?
Yes! We have a range of teachers with different availabilities, so we can find a time and day that suits your schedule. Please either email or chat to a teacher after class to arrange your lesson.

What does my child need to bring to class?
Your child should bring their shoes, dance attire, a water bottle, and a small A5 notebook or diary to write down any notes they want to remember from class.
